When I was up in Labrador we always carried a water bottle filled with gasoline in case you fell into the water and need to get warm in a hurry. Dry wood isn't always available so we'd pour gas into a soup can light it. It would burn more than long enough to get the wettest wood burning and you didn't have to fuss with the fire so much. It can save your life and is way safer than pouring gas on the wood.
