Innovative Altoids Tin Survival Kit

**List of Survival Kit Contents Below**

There are a LOT of videos on YouTube of people showing off their Altoids tin survival kits, which made me hesitate to show mine. But since this is a kit that has taken 3+ years of trial and error to develop, I believe it can help other people put their’s together.

Please share and like this video, and I encourage you to subscribe to my channel. Also, I am aware that this kit has room for improvement, so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Some of the most helpful tips I have ever received have not come from a book or an “expert” but from the comments of people on my videos. So I would enjoy reading them.

Enjoy!

You should put the tin foil in the bandana to add more and clear some space up in the container

The problem with a paracord wrap is that you can't take anything out of the tin without removing the paracord.  Not a good idea.   I hold everything together with ranger bands, and slip a hank  of paracord under that.  Honestly, I'm not a believe in small survival its.   I think it's an illusion believing these things can actually do the job they're expected to do.  It's so easy to carry a full-size survival kit that contains full size tools, that all I use an Altoid tin for is a boo-boo kit.   They're mostly a joke, if you're really in a survival situation.  And, really, a good compass is a must.    I guess what really bothers me about these kits, other than the simple fact that they really don't work, is that there is no excuse to put yourself in a position where you need such a kit.  Unless you're in an airplane crash, there simply is no occasion when you should go anywhere near the woods without true survival equipment on your person, and in your car.

I would take out two things. #1 I'd take off the bandana because instead of carrying it I would just wear it on my head. #2 I would take out the flashlight depending on wear you are because if you aren't in a place with dangerous animals because other wise you could just adjust your eyes to the darkness, but if you are in a desert I would take it so if you are out at night you can watch out for scorpions and snakes. Great video and I'll leave a like, thanks for sharing.

you could : 1) trash all the tinder and add the live fire sport 7.00 – use it mutiple times and candle,… 2) trash the signal mirror and add the starflash mirror for 7.00 – it's just better 3) trash the bic lighter, whistle, ferro rod, sand paper and add the sog signal fire 8.00 plus the sog fire starter/sharpener 15.00 – redundancy and smaller package ……..and you would have a better smaller kit….me thinks…just a few ideas for ya…

Only problem I can see with surviving off this kit alone; if you get an infected cut you're done. You need some alcohol prep pads and polysporin, I understand a lot of medicine can be substituted with herbs, but I don't think you should always rely on that, especially if you get cut in the leg and are trying to hobble around looking for an antibacterial plant. Otherwise great kit!

i did not read through the comments, so don't hate me for a repeat. Victorinox makes a ball point pen that fits into the tooth pick or tweezer slot. It Is like a dollar or two at a outdoors like store. Just a side note I like the toothpick as a morale booster and the tweezers I have used too many times, not just in an outdoors environment to throw it out. If one has got to go, especially if this knife is in your pocket all the time it is the toothpick. The video has given me ideas for my own kit.

Hey great video! It is always nice to see somebody carry the same stuff i do.
I would replace the minigrip bags with condoms. They are great for carrying stuff, they are smaller and if filled with water they make your magnifier useless.
This is just a tip, I don't wish for any comment wars. Also sorry for bad english.
