There is a not too big restaurant chain in Paris, France called CHEZ CLEMENT. They decorate the rooms with twisted flatware, I kid you not! They have these excellent fixed price lunches. Ordering à la carte is a winner but you can stick to their meal plan and do fine. I knew that twisted flatware reminded me of something, this was it I guess! I took a guest to a lunch here from NY once, she was thrilled. Best to ya!

    More excellent advice, JB!

When you live in Florida, a 140 mile wide sandbar, and a 300 mile diameter hurricane comes through, the only place you could go to escape is Kansas, and 10 million other people are all trying to take the same TWO roads out. You just stock up on pop and food necessities and hunker down.

I'm 4 miles from the Gulf, and 12' above sea level, and when Charley came trough a few years ago, the SOB took out my shop, but he left the house. I was without power for 3 weeks+.

@feeder12 Yeah I saw that too. I know yall have bad winter storms but, A hurricane is bad news, they can as bad as giant tornadoes but on a large scale. Most homes & structures are built to withstand 100mph winds, add in pounding rain & flooding? That's bad stuff. If another comes yall's way. PREPARE Well in advance.

@007bondjb Its true – I'm actually from Massachusetts, Irene was my first taste of a tropical system… even though we only got a tropical storm I know plenty of people still without power/water

Vermont got it bad though, check out some videos of the flooding up there, real nasty.

Hey Jables, I enjoyed both your clips about preparedness a lot.

I have crossed the San Andreas fault twice a day for years and years. Everyone I care about is on the Japan side of that fault. I am sitting on the US continent side.

I'm gonna bring this up with my family this weekend.

Thanks JB! I'm up in Connecticut and we got whacked pretty good. My house was fine, no loss of power or trees falling, but some in my family had water and power issues – but at least everyone is safe!!

Really appreciate your words of wisdom and now I'm putting together an emergency bin based on what you suggested and a few other things . Gonna put a list in there on the food to get too. Good stuff my friend, good stuff!!

Wise words boy. I'm high and dry here inland but I still got flood insurance cause I have lived in Houston long enough to know if it rains long enough and hard enough it is gonna flood.

Mr JB, I fill up my freezer with as many water containers as possible prior, then when power does go out, get them sodas in a cooler and leave the fridge closed! As the soda warm, grab some ice and trow in the cooler when the ice melt you got drinkin water!
    Peace JB
