Haiti’s Disaster Risk Management by Ministry of the Interior during the GFDRR

The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) Consultative Group (CG) invited Haiti to become a member delegate of this prestigious organization for a second term, making Haiti the first nation in the history of the GFDRR to hold this honor. The Minister of the Interior, Territorial Collectivities and National Defense of Haiti, Thierry Mayard- Paul, attended the conference at the World Bank in Washington D.C on April 16 — 17, as chief representative of Haiti. The presentation he gave to member delegates stated Haiti’s key points on the importance of prioritizing and boosting preparedness and response in the event of any upcoming natural disaster. With preparation, risk reduction, collaborative efforts and integration of a comprehensive plan of action, Haiti implements an effective and successful national disaster risk management system.
